Synopsis
Convenience Store follows a group of Uzbek migrant workers facing inhumane treatment in today’s Moscow. The film is a harrowing look at modern-day slavery in which the space of a convenience store functions as a prison without bars.
Director Michael Borodin’s feature debut immerses viewers in the story through striking long takes, a placid pacing, and a chilling ending. The film was selected for the Panorama section of the Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the CICAE Arthouse Cinema Award.
