Panel Talk: ‘Femicide: The overlooked crisis of gender-related violence’
Panel Talk | 40 min | 16:00 – 16:40 | Zaal 2
Femicide, the killing of women and girls because of their gender, is a deeply troubling issue that affects societies worldwide. While political action is crucial in addressing this form of gender-based violence, it is also essential to understand how societal attitudes, cultural norms, and individual behaviors contribute to this problem. This panel discussion aims to explore both the political and societal dimensions of femicide, examining its causes, the role of gender inequality, and how we can work together to prevent it.
Goal of the conversation: The goal of this discussion is to identify the root causes of femicide, both in the political realm and in everyday life, and to explore practical solutions. We aim to discuss how legislation, education, and cultural shifts can all play a role in preventing violence against women, and how we, as a society, can create a safer environment for all women and girls.
