DUTCH PREMIERE
Cille Hannibal, Christine Hanberg | Documentary | 75 min | Denmark | Danish (English subtitles)
Synopsis
How does caring for a deaf and blind brother affect your sense of agency and fulfilment? As Christine slowly takes over the care of her brother Peter from her exhausted parents, she faces a future without their unconditional support. Christine begins questioning how to claim and safeguard a space for herself as a caretaker, while caring for Peter’s own security.
Christine’s co-direction of the film makes He’s My Brother an equally intimate and sincere watch, lovingly introducing viewers to Peter’s world. This moving relationship, completely built on the sense of touch, earned the film a Special Mention Award at the 2021 Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival CPH:DOX.
